The developments in technology, data and artificial intelligence are moving fast. The travel industry is highly influenced by these developments and will most likely be influenced even more in the future. For professionals working in this industry, it is important to keep up with this pace and be able to use technology to understand the travel industry better and potentially try to influence it.
Travel Technology Europe event
To be inspired by the latest development in technology, the program team of CELTH attended the Travel Technology Europe event in the Olympia Exhibition Centre in London in February 2019. Travel Technology Europe is an international platform for all travel and tourism agencies worldwide. Here, start-up companies present their latest developments for the travel industry and the Business Travel Technology Showcase houses a full spectrum of technology suppliers that demonstrate new products, services and solutions as well as conference content.
Collaboration between institutes
Universities of applied sciences are educating the professionals of tomorrow working in the travel industry and for them it is important to conceive what role technology can play in their curricula. Together with their affiliated institutes, CELTH aims to explore to what extent they can collaborate on this topic. Therefore, in total 14 representatives of Hogeschool Zeeland, Breda University of Applied Sciences, NHL Stenden and CELTH gathered during this event in London and got together to explore possibilities for collaboration.
