Strategic research agenda for the leisure economy for North Holland

Research is becoming increasingly important for all parties in the leisure domain. However, often studies are not properly coordinated, resulting in an incomplete patchwork of information. At a national level this is the area of activity of the National Tourism Data Alliance, but how do you organise this on a regional scale? At the request of the Province of North Holland, we were allowed to guide the development of the Strategic Research Agenda for the Noord-Holland Leisure Domain. In an interactive process with governments, DMOs, sector organisations and other stakeholders, it was determined which policy questions exist, which information is already available and which is not and what has the most priority. This has resulted in a proposal for the content and organisation of the research agenda for the coming period.

 The research agenda is needed:

  • to investigate how existing data can be better deployed and made accessible to (provincial) policy
  • to inventory which methods/research methods are already in use
  • to gain better insight into several issues that the province will be dealing in the upcoming years
