Predictive models for insight into tourism pressures

Forecasting models are essential when it comes to estimating tourism pressure. They can help estimate where visitor flows from overnight and day visitors may result in crowding. Insight into visitor flows is highly desirable for a tourist region in view of the pursuit of a more sustainable balance between resident, visitor, entrepreneur and environment, given the area's carrying capacity. Current situations, such as COVID-19, also require this insight. That is why we are investigating to what extent it is possible to develop forecasting models to provide insight into tourism pressure and expected visitor flows.
