Second edition European Sustainable Tourism Mobility Forum at BUas
On Monday 26 May, the second edition of the European Sustainable Tourism Mobility Forum will take place on the campus of Breda University of Applied Sciences (BUas). The event is organised by BUas in cooperation with the Ministry of Infrastructure and Water Management, the Ministry of Economic Affairs and NBTC.
The forum brings together policymakers, the field and researchers with the aim of promoting the transition to sustainable tourism mobility. The opening address will be given by Wim Kulik from the Ministry of Economy , Daniel Attard , Member of the European Parliament and Nina Nesterova, Professor of Sustainable Tourism and Transport at BUas. Ben Lynam of The Travel Foundation and Camille Mutrelle of Transport & Environment will then share the latest trends and developments in tourism and mobility.
Redesigning a more sustainable travel system
Through five different interactive sessions, the forum aims to align tourism and transport agendas, address challenges and prioritise concrete actions at European and national level. The opening panel will be moderated by Anouk van Eekelen of NBTC.
The sessions will focus on the following themes:
- Rethinking tourism mobility consumption
- Investigating tourism and transport climate risks
- Exploring business model innovation
- Unlocking data exchange potential
- Developing pathways for a just and ethical transition
Strengthening cooperation between policymakers, industry and researchers
During the interactive sessions, speakers from NS, Corendon, KLM, AXA Partners, Better Places, NECSTouR, International Road Union, European Cyclists' Federation and SNP Natuurreizen will share insights on sustainable tourism mobility. Speakers from Tilburg University, The European Travel Commission, FBAA, KiM, Austria Tourism, TU Dortmund, TU Delft, Transport & Environment and Erasmus University Rotterdam will also take part in the discussion.
The closing session will be moderated by Attila Benedek , Senior Policy Advisor at the European Parliament. Keynote speaker Koert van Mensvoort of Next Nature will close the forum with his vision in relation to the future of travel and transport.
