Smart technology eases workload for hotel housekeepers

How can we reduce the physical strain on hotel housekeepers? As part of his Professional Doctorate (PD) research, Klaas Koerten is exploring practical answers to this question. In collaboration with hotels and technology partners, he investigates how smart solutions – such as sensors, data analytics, and robotics – can contribute to a healthier working environment for housekeeping staff.

This applied research responds to a pressing challenge in the hospitality sector: retaining staff in physically demanding roles. By optimizing workflows and reducing physical strain, hotels can better support their employees while also improving service quality.
