Together with UNWTO, Saxion University of Applied Sciences, NHL Stenden University of Applied Sciences, HZ University of Applied Sciences and Breda University of Applied Sciences, we organise the first edition of the UNWTO Students' League in the Netherlands for third or fourth-year leisure, tourism and hospitality students. The challenge takes place between 1 - 22 June 2020 and the solutions will be presented to an international jury.
Students help the tourism sector in crisis
The UNWTO Students' League Netherlands is a competition between teams of students representing their educational institution. The students will gain experience as future professionals and work on real-time cases. Besides, it offers Dutch destinations and organisations the opportunity to find real ideas and solutions that can be presented to customers, managers and employees in the near future.
During the kick-off in June, students will work on a case focused on COVID-19. The international jury with representatives from the Dutch sector and the UNWTO will assess the solutions and ideas on originality, feasibility, impact, consistency and the implementation of relevant Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
UNWTO World Tourism Students' League
The UNWTO Students' League Netherland operates under the worldwide UNWTO Academy. It aims to strengthen cooperation between the sector and education and to map rapidly changing skills sets, in which digitisation and sustainability are central elements. An annual worldwide edition is the main event of the UNWTO World Tourism Students' League. In the autumn of 2020, the second edition of the Students' League Netherlands will be held, offering five challenges and the finalists in the Netherlands will then be able to participate in the worldwide final in June 2021.
Partners
NBTC and Knowledge Network Destination Netherlands are the first two partners that will participate during the second edition of the UNWTO Students' League Netherlands (autumn 2020). This is a great opportunity for participating organisations to get in touch with future professionals.
