Training for sustainable tourism in Indonesia has started

17-11-2021

Led by ETFI expert Brigitte Nitsch, a multi-day training course for the sustainable development of Lake Toba in North Sumatra, Indonesia, will start today. The purpose of this training is to train employees of the Lake Toba Tourism Authority (BPODT) in developing a business plan. The participants can focus on two substantive directions, namely; heritage/culture or agritourism. CELTH program manager Guido Aerts and Jasper Heslinga have worked closely with the partners in the realization and development of this training.”

Train-the-trainer

During the training, the participants will be able to enrich their knowledge with interesting lectures and inspiring examples from our experts, but we will also mainly get to work ourselves. Step by step, the participants reache a business plan to improve tourism in Lake Toba and make it more sustainable. The training is set up according to the 'train-the-trainer' principle, which enables the participants to eventually train people themselves with the knowledge and skills acquired during the training. As a result, the training also has an effect in the longer term.
