07-03-2024

The sixth PD candidate in the Leisure, Tourism & Hospitality domain has started. Jochem Jansen of NHL Stenden Hogeschool is doing research on the major transition tasks in the Netherlands in the context of National Park Alde Feanen.

The professional doctorate is the Dutch colleges' new and proprietary doctoral program. In seven domains, candidates can work on interventions in complex professional practice. Leisure, Tourism & Hospitality is one of the seven domains where candidates can take a PD. CELTH coordinates this for the seven colleges where a professional doctorate is possible in our domain.
Earlier, six other candidates were able to start in Leisure, Tourism & Hospitality:

  • Judith Ogink - NLH Stenden University of Applied Sciences
  • Peter van der Aalst - Breda University of Applied Sciences
  • Roos Gerritsma - Inholland University of Applied Sciences.
  • Samantha Boom - Breda University of Applied Sciences
  • Armand Odekerken - Zuyd University of Applied Sciences

The PD of Jochem Jansen of NHL Stenden Hogeschool is entitled: Anticipation in the context of nature-tourism destination governance - Shaping the future of (New Style) National Park Alde Feanen, collaboratively -.

According to Jochem, the rural area in the Netherlands faces major transition tasks around nature, water, agriculture, energy, housing and the balanced use of scarce available space. Recreation and tourism can play a key role as overarching carriers for spatial transitions.

His research focuses on identifying the conditions, barriers and opportunities to transform visions for recreation and tourism into collective action towards the future, within complex multi-stakeholder partnerships. This especially in the context of National Park Alde Feanen, which wants to develop into a so-called 'National Park New Style', and thus be an example for other nature areas.
